Are you interested in taking your side-hustle full-time?

Back when I first dove into the online business world, I wasn’t sure to be totally honest. I secured a job with Laura Roeder...because she had a business I could honestly see myself running someday.

I learned everything I could and finally took the leap...after two years of trying to manage own course launches of my signature program, Fearless Launching, I knew I owed it to myself to try.

If you want to hear that full story, make sure to dig into the podcast archives and listen to the episode where I share the whole story right here!

Todayyy I’m talking to Dr. Cortney Baker, someone who helps women do exactly that...turn their side-hustle into actual businesses.

Cortney has a LOT going for her...She’s a business growth strategist, she’s been named Texas Businesswoman of the Year. She’s also a CEO and founder of multimillion-dollar company Kids Care Home Health. She’s the creator of the from Side Hustle To CEO Academy.

Cortney shares with us some essential tips to help us transition to a full-time business owner.

Listen in, learn, and get motivated.

Highlights From The Episode:

[04:07] Getting to know Dr. Cortney and how she got started

[07:22] Cortney’s dissertation research

[10:29] Four main challenges that women go through in the corporate world

[12:12] Cortney’s book: Unlimited: Conquering the Myth of the Glass Ceiling

[15:47] Things to know before taking a side-hustle full-time and leaving your job

[20:29] Why knowing your tribe is an essential part of the process

[24:22] Cortney’s advice on the most straight-forward business to start

[26:14] Simple guidelines for people quitting their full-time jobs

Key Quotes from the Episode

“…you have to leave walking out as a CEO, as I’m a CEO, and I’m going to behave and hold myself to a higher standard than that because they may be a referral partner.”

“Whatever the plan is, as long as you make one and you get other people to help you with it, then you’re setting yourself up for success.”

“Getting other people on board, having them feel like they’re part of the business. That is the way you build confidence and trust in what you’re doing.”

“If it were easy, everyone would do it.”

“What can you do to solve a problem that really just pisses you off and be part of the solution?”

Ever thought about starting a YouTube channel? If so, listen up today.

YouTube channels are great ways to build communities, build your audience, sell more of your products, reach more of your ideal customers, and share your expertise on an ever-expanding, highly shareable platform.

Today’s guest has a tarot, astrology, and lifestyle channel called Minnow Pond. I discovered Chris Reck as I became part of his community…and watching his Tarot readings every single month.

And of course...I got curious.

Because he wasn’t the only tarot reader on YouTube. In fact, this year it seems like a bazillion readers have shown up online.

So I started digging. How did this whole Minnow Pond thing start? What else was Chris doing in the world? How do tarot readers make money with Youtube as their primary publishing platform?

Hiring a team that supports your business vision is a gift.

Some of us turn to Google for ideas on creating a strong team. We tend to copy what other gurus do instead of using our intuition.

Today, our guest Jenna Irvin shares her story on how she used intuition to create a team from scratch and how we can do it too.

She also shares her story of starting, building, growing, and then selling her first business by the age of 23 is such a testament to what is possible when we trust ourselves...no matter where we are in life.

I can't wait for you to get to know this powerhouse woman...and everything she's up to in the world.

Today's bonus episode is a recent conversation with my long-time friend and business buddy Amber McCue. Now, this is another one of those fly on the wall style conversations that I love to share with you. Amber and I catch up about the past few years and then get into the meat of today's topic which is all about being RIGHT ON TIME.

Here are some highlights from our convo:

  • Her long-running yearly virtual event called the Planathon (which kicks off Monday!)
  • Exactly how she maintains two successful businesses and what they are...
  • Some new things she's creating as a result of her life in Ethiopia.
  • Why "Right On Time" has become her new mantra (even though she's been telling her clients this for years)
  • And we also nerd out about planning and how it actually activates the creative thinking part of your mind!

If you want to check out the Planathon that starts MONDAY, October 28th...make sure to go to theplanathon.com/anne

Did the last online course you took transform your life in any way?

97% of people who sign up for courses and programs don’t finish them and get the results. This is a worrying statistic. Truth be told...if you're in this audience, then I know you.

You likely don't want to spend your precious time creating a course that people end up not finishing. You want to create an experience that'll give people unstoppable momentum.

But, how do you do that?

That's what we're exploring on today's episode of the podcast.

We are honored to have Marisa Murgatroyd shares the secrets of how to build courses that genuinely transform people. Marisa is the founder of Live Your Message, where she turns entrepreneurs into Online Superheroes. She helps people who teach online programs get better results for their students faster. Marisa has shown over 4000 students how to succeed online.

Are you ready to create courses that will truly change people? I thought so.

Episode Highlights:

  • Why Marisa is so passionate about changing the online education landscape
  • Core principles for launching a successful course
  • How to create experience escalation in your courses
  • Why creating a powerful mission statement can do more than empower your students to take action
  • How to create a space where your students experience unstoppable momentum

Getting your legal stuff in order is neither fun nor sexy, but is essential. Many entrepreneurs only get legal stuff in order when things are about to go wrong or only when things have already gone wrong.

Our guest today is here to help us understand what legal stuff we should have for our businesses and what the best time to have them in place is. We are excited to speak to have Annette Stepanian, a lawyer for creatives and entrepreneurs. From contract drafting, trademark registration to consulting.

According to Annette, it is advisable to have your legal stuff in place when starting your business. It ensures your business is well protected. For instance, can you imagine creating some content then someone comes and steals it? Would you like that?

Key Talking Points:

  • Annette’s entrepreneurial journey
  • Legal stuff needed in a business
  • How to market without inflicting fear

Key Quotes from the Episode

“Copying and pasting from samples they find on the Internet robs you the opportunity to really take ownership of your business and to architect it.”

We're often told to invest in your business, yourself, work on your mindset... Always be educating yourself. Be coachable. You may have been encouraged to join a mastermind group to lift and be lifted by your fellow members.

Over the years I've had some incredible mentors...

In today's episode, I'm sharing 8 lessons I learned as a result of investing in myself and my business. These are not lessons you might expect from being in any type of online group program...and they aren't the tangibles outcomes I expected!

I get personal here and you may be surprised to see that Anne isn't always the cheerful, positive, always pushing/planning, generous type! I'm willing to show these parts of myself to you...because I was willing to really look at myself and the things holding me back. I'm not proud of some of my reactions, but I know there was growth, because as soon as I started to acknowledge those shadow parts of myself...things changed.

I hope you'll also be inspired to take a look at yourself too!

Make sure to get on The Message Lab™ waitlist right now if you want to learn how to face yourself, share yourself, and then communicate with more clarity during your launches!

Boundaries give you and your people structure...and space. Set the expectations and you’ll avoid feeling trapped, feeling tired, drained, resentful.

Now, I have always prided myself on being close to the people I work with. I’ve been told time and again not to be friends with everyone...and I definitely am not close confidants with people, but I always meet people who I love on a personal level too!

But as I mentioned in a previous bonus, that’s something that weighed me down as things got harder and harder to manage in my personal life.

I’ve always maintained that people want this high touch...and I  like to be the one to give it.

But I realized that not having boundaries means parts of my business, things I want to create, to improve, are sidelined...

So, here's how to set those boundaries and set them right now!

We cover the topic of boundaries and setting expectations with your clients/customers inside my upcoming program, The Message Lab.

How important is writing effective marketing and launch copy to your launch results?

If you’ve ever had trouble writing copy, creating a sales page, writing the emails, or simply figure out WHAT TO SAY…today’s episode is for you.

Writing marketing copy can be one of the most challenging parts of the entire launch process.

Why? Because it’s not something you just master and then you’re good to go.

It’s a practice you need to keep doing, keep getting better at, keep honing...all through your business.

That’s why many seasoned entrepreneurs and business owners hire expert copywriters to help them write their sales pages, their emails, and even their social media messages.

Today’s episode is a recent Facebook Live conversation with one of the smartest sales and launch copywriters I know!

Christine Blubaugh is also a second-time co-host on the podcast. When I find amazing people, I always try to keep working, collaborating with them….so I had to bring her back!

Michelle Ward, best known as the “When I Grow Up Coach” is joining the podcast today to talk about these stages and what we can learn even if we think we’re in the building phase!

Are you ready to break some rules in your business?

Our guest has some urgent information to share with you.

His latest book is one that he has called urgent, mostly because it contains information that could be outdated in just a year or two...but right not it’s powerful, detailed, and he’s ready to challenge what you know to be true about building your business.

Today, we’re speaking to author Nathan Latka about his latest book, “How To Be A Capitalist Without Any Capital.”

Now, I listened to this book, I read the book too…why? I consumed it in both ways because there’s a lot of refreshing perspectives that I just couldn’t leave to one format…

Nathan challenges what lots of online teachers and strategists are encouraging all of us to do...

Whether you agree with him or not, you’ll be left asking a lot of questions and coming to your own conclusions instead of simply nodding your head and continuing to accept everything you hear.

Let’s dive in.

If you’re eager to launch your business, you might be thinking about all the things you’ll create, what your products will be, how you’ll serve your audience, your coaching packages… fonts, don’t forget about fonts...

But that’s not all.

Business means you’ve got something to offer to people for sale after all, right?

Today we’re going to hit the pause button and do a little rewind (possibly).

But before you go down the path of creating your products first, consider what business you’re building.

Thinking of creating a product-based business?  Looking to add a physical product to your current digital offers?

If you’re not sure how to get started...today’s episode will show you what it takes even if you aren’t a designer, have never created a product before, or if you’re looking to add a product to your current digital line up.

We’re talking to Kristi Soomer founder of Encircled, an ethical clothing line based in Canada.

Before we dive into the conversation, ask yourself these questions:

-Do you have an idea for a product?

-What do you do first when creating a physical product steps?

-Do you need a website or blog?

-What’s the best way to get your product in front of people before you launch it?

-How do you design your product?

If you’ve been curious like I have been about creating a physical product business, this episode is for you! Kristi answers some of these questions while sharing her surprising story!

Tell me if this sounds familiar.

You get an amazing idea for a product, course or something else you want to create and launch to the world. You start brainstorming all the amazing things … it literally comes pouring out of you.

Maybe right along with this brainstorm, you start talking to friends about it...because you are literally THAT excited.

Have you ever been so excited about your idea and then found out that it had already been done? Or maybe you knew that it was already done many times over, so you’ve spent years telling yourself, “Don’t you dare create that!” or “Don’t waste your time!”

Heck, I’ve had that same idea with my signature program Fearless Launching? How many people are teaching about launching, launch strategy, or some type of launching or even something related to launching? Let’s just say A LOT.

If you have experience this or are experiencing it right now, today’s episode is for you. You might just get you some simple tools to getting through those thoughts and creating something EVEN WHEN it’s being done by many other people.

Are you going to launch soon? Or are you launching right now?

Then, you know that there are a variety of tasks, moving technical pieces, and jobs that need to get done to make that launch happen.

Am I right?

Landing pages, sales page, video script, webinar slides, writing your email, scheduling social media, coming up with the overall strategy and plan…

We’re being called on a daily basis to be copywriters, graphic designers, business strategists, paid traffic experts, CEOs, bookkeepers, and so much more in our business!

It’s no wonder why it often takes a whole lot of patience, time, and humility to get our products, services, and big ideas launched to the world.

So today, I’m going to talk about 4 of those roles you’ll playing during your launch, whether you’re working alone or with a team.

These are roles that you will need to assume if you are working alone--and most of us do start completely solo.

If you’re curious about the 4 people you need to become during a launch, this week’s episode is for you!
